Itinerary

  • Day 1Your city - Gushaini, Tirthan

Try to reach Gushaini in Tirthan valley by noon. Check into a comfortable riverside homestay, have lunch and then set off on a 3.5 km hike to Chhoie waterfall. Explore the nearby villages on the way back to the homestay.

  • Day 2Gushaini (1600 m) - Rolla campsite (2100 m)

The trail toward Rolla campsite is initially along a motorable road. Then it crosses a few fields up to Ropa village. The last 3 km stretch is through a dense forest inside Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP). The campsite is a lovely meadow set amidst dense forests and is situated on the banks of Tirthan river.

  • Day 3Rolla - Shilt Thatch (3000 m) - Rolla

After breakfast set off on the 5 km hike to Rolla. It is a gentle ascent up to the turn off towards Shilt. Further on it is a fairly steep climb all the way up to Shilt view point. Do stop occasionally to catch your breath, to admire splendid views of the mountains and to do a bit of birdwatching. Enjoy a packed lunch at Shilt view point and return to the campsite.

  • Day 4Rolla - Gushaini

After breakfast set off towards Gushaini. The 12 km hike shouldn’t take more than 4 to 5 hours even at an easy pace. So take your time, soak in the sights and do some birdwatching while inside the national park. Those interested, can do some sustainable angling in the afternoon.

  • Day 5Gushaini - Chehni Kothi - your destination

After breakfast, check out and drive to the starting point of the hike to Chehni Kothi near Banjar.
