About Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary:
Binsar wildlife sanctuary in Almora district of Uttarakhand. Binsar is a haven for nature lovers and is famous for the panoramic views of Himalayan peaks, bio-diversity, local culture and history. It is home to 180 species of resident and migratory birds such as tits, forktails, nuthatches, blackbirds, parakeets, laughing thrushes, magpies, monal, woodpeckers and Eurasian jays. A variety of trees, shrubs and grasses, and a large variety of reptiles and butterflies are also found here. The larger mammals found in the sanctuary include leopard, langurs, barking deer, wild boars, red fox, red giant flying squirrel and monkeys.

Getting there:
Binsar is 31 km by road from Almora. From Kumaon Mandal’s Binsar Tourist Rest House (TRH), it is a 3 km downhill walk  to Gaunap.

Almora is about 80 km from Kathgodam which is the nearest rail-head. From Kathgodam frequent buses and share taxis are available up to Almora. From Almora one has to hire a taxi to reach Binsar (tariff is about Rs. 1000).
